As you are sitting on the sofa, reaching for the tv guide have you ever really thought about all the technology that is literally surrounding you? Many lounges are a tangle of cables and wires from all of the gadgets that we supposedly need just to be able to relax.
First of course you have the TV itself. Although after the CRT type televisions the general direction was for TV's to become smaller and slimmer suddenly they began to grow again and we now aspire to have the largest (but flattest) TV possible, preferably with HD.
Then you have the things attached to the TV. A DVD player of course in case you don't have quite enough channels to watch. A few households even have video players still (what are these I hear you ask?). And of course an extra set of speakers because you cannot quite hear the TV on its own in a room 15ft by 15ft.
Then there is the sky box which we cannot do without. You wouldn't want to miss anything so now you can easily record anything you might miss. And maybe an X Box or PS3 or Nintendo Wii in case you get really bored. Is it just me or have we lost the ability to entertain ourselves? What on earth did we used to do?
